The Importance of Global Cycles

Cycles are central to how we predict almost anything about how the world around us works. If cycles affect all of the other elements we base predictions and certainties on, then how could cycles be used to provide better insight into weather? Weather2020 answers this question with the LRC and the center of Gary Lezak’s research for the last 30 years. 

How it Works

The Lezak Recurring Cycle (LRC) takes into account many of these factors and identifies a cycling pattern of weather indicators which influence the weather. These cycles vary from year to year, but once the cycle is established, it repeats itself to a very high level of predictability. 

  1. The Weather2020 team gears up in the October time frame conducting in depth analysis, updating our data models, and identifying key weather indicators.
  2. In the December time frame (typically), out model begins to show signs of repetition and establishes the pattern. At this point, we start to identify the characteristics of the cycle, including the length of that cycle.
  3. As the first cycle is established and begins to repeat, the Weather 2020 team continues collecting data and adjusting the model. 
  4. The cycle will continue to repeat for the next 9 months. The Weather2020 team continues to ‘tighten’ predictions and update customers of key trends and significant weather events.
  5. Start over in October.
