Good morning bloggers, It’s Friday!

I am back to work tonight on 41 Action News, and then tomorrow I have a public appearance at 2 PM at Bar-K:

It is an all day event on Saturday: “Join us on June 15 for a full day of fun, as we officially christen our new “Seresto® Stage @ Bar K”!  From the dazzling mural behind the stage to the translucent awning providing shade & shelter to the towering replica of the Seresto® Flea & Tick Collar, we’re hoping the Seresto Stage will become a beloved performance venue here in KC — one that both humans and dogs will be able to enjoy together!  We’ll be booking not only great music but also educational presentations, speakers on animal welfare and other topics, puppy graduation parties, improv performances, karaoke nights, movie nights,  and all kinds of other programming to keep you and your pup entertained, engaged and informed.

We’re pulling out all the stop on Saturday the 15th including:

— KC Celebrity appearances by fellow dog lovers Gary Lezak of 41 Action News – KSHB-TV and Travis Kelce, who will judge a touchdown dance competition!
— Opportunity to hang with the Founder of We Rate Dogs, Matt Nelson
— Get custom “pawtraits” of your pup
— Drink specials like the “Seresto® Slushy”
— Contests/giveaways throughout the day
— Live music on the Seresto® Stage by Recycled Funk

And, we will have all kinds of prizes and giveaways, including our book, “It’s A Sunny Life”. So, come on by with your dog, and experience Bar-K.  I will be there from 2 PM until around 3:15 PM.

Will it stay dry Saturday?  There is a chance of a few thunderstorms early, and then again later in the evening.  Today’s chance of rain is associated with a little wave moving our way.

These altocumulus clouds were around 10,000 feet up in our sky this morning, and associated with a weak upper level storm moving across the Kansas-Missouri border.

This next map shows the latest European Model rainfall total prediction for the next ten days:

Kansas City’s Forecast Today:  Mostly cloudy with rain likely this morning with a chance of a thunderstorm.  There is chance of more rain showers and thunderstorms tonight into early Saturday before we get a six to ten hour window of pretty nice weather Saturday with south to southwest winds.  Highs in the 70s today and 80s Saturday.

Thank you for sharing in this weather experience!  We hope to see you tomorrow.  Have a great day!

Gary

Has anyone else noticed unusually intense swarms of bugs (gnats?) flying through the air this past week, leaving hazy brown trails as they move through the sky? We’ve seen them along 435 and 45 HWY.

(I assume they are thriving due to the river flooding / wet conditions …)

When is this God forsaken gale going to settle down?

Another big rain threat that turned out to be absolutely nothing. My 1.7″ prediction for the rest of the month is looking pretty good right now.

Had to look up Bar K since I’ve never heard of this place. For folks interested in going, it down along Berkley Riverfront Park. Take Grand Ave down into the Riverfront Market area and stay on it since it turns into Berkley Parkway. Just as you go around the curve near the river and under the Heart of America Bridge, the dog bar/dog park area is on the right side. Looks like some of the storms on Saturday evening could be strong. They appear to be mostly to the north. Skew-T chart shows hail and slight possibility of tornado.

I’m curious how it went over in Europe during the presentation

Yes! It can be very difficult to introduce new ideas to the scientific community. It would be great to have an interview with Gary discussing his journey over the years as he tries to sway the meteorological community to the validity of the LRC.

I hope Sean and Brooke didn’t pay too close attention to the Save The Date forecast posted here https://weather2020.com/save-the-date-membership-details/ : As we know June can be a very unpredictable time of year in the Midwest. Weather2020 Analytics show that the Wedding can expect a High Temperature of 84 and Low of 61 degrees. But for the most important factor is precipitation. The Weather the week leading up to the Event will be wet, but the rain will move out of the area on Thursday the 13th. Looks like a great weekend to get married. Congratulations!!!! Wednesday and Thursday were gorgeous!… Read more »

First?

Also—Gary — I’m curious why you routinely post those 10-day precip total models lately, but with little analysis.

Those progs almost always overdo our totals; the ones you’ve shown for the last 2 weeks or so have mostly flopped.

So what do you really see for rainfall totals over the next few days?

I don’t think there’s anything to it other than that he thinks that stretch will be active.

I think too much going on with his celebrity appearances and he’s tired from his vacation.
Its going to rain then it will get hot. Then more rain. All summer long.
