Good Saturday bloggers,

The last round of precipitation from this three day storm is falling in the form of snow. It moved in to KC  between 7 AM and 8 AM.

8

There was a main disturbance north of Salina, KS early Saturday morning, moving east fairly quickly. It will take until around 1 PM for the system to move by.

7

Temperatures will stay above freezing this morning, so the roads will be wet. In the heavier bands the grassy surfaces may get dusted.

6

SATURDAY NOON: The snow, possibly mixed with rain, will be ending from west to east with temperatures in the mid 30s. Notice, the sun is out in southeast Nebraska.

1

SATURDAY NOON TO 5 PM: The sun will come out with highs 40°-45°. The first pitch of the Royals is at 1:15 PM. They should play this afternoon. Sporting KC starts at 2 PM. It will be windy for both games with increasing sunshine. Temperatures will warm to the low and mid 40s. So, a coat is handy if you head out to those games. This evening will be clear with less wind as temperatures drop to the 30s.

2

SUNDAY MORNING:  A hard freeze is likely with lows in the mid 20s. A few locations may drop to 20°-25°. The wind will be north-northwest at 5-15 mph making wind chill values in the low teens.

3

SUNDAY AFTERNOON: It will be a much nicer day with sunshine, a light wind, and highs 45°-50°.

4

Our next storm arrives Thursday with rain and a few thunderstorms. We will have more on this in Sunday’s blog.

Have a great weekend.

Jeff Penner

This weather is getting so out of hand like first we had 70 degrees on Thursday and now snow, and once again we will expect high temperatures this coming week.

My yard is 100% mud. Part of my fence started leaning halfway down because the ground is so wet. I had to have my neighbor help me tie it up to a tree on his yard to keep it upright.

2.13″ near old town Lenexa. Dusting of snow.

Looks like the GFS picking up on the mid April snowfall . 😀

Which? The “start of the new cycle” storm should probably be too warm.

2.4″ of rain at the farm in NW Vernon Co. But got some hay fields fertilized and some oats/clover sowed before it came so this was welcome. Now some decent weather on the way, this Spring is looking up!

Snow began falling here (25 miles north of Manhattan) before midnight, and the bluffs west of the Big Blue River are still white  (at 11:15 AM) even though the air temperature has been above freezing since 7:30 AM.
Here’s a link to snow reports. 3″ was reported in Cloud County; 2.5″ in Republic County & 2″ in Marshall County.

rain snow mix up here since 4:30 AM intensity has varied back and forth just like showers in the spring and summer! I do not really see the need for the big stink over the frost tonight. Nothing has grown except for a few daffodils and crocuses. And they always do well in the cold!

Rain/snow mix in Parkville.

Edit: Reading other comments…wow, another anti-snow bubble? Seems the curse of the January storm has not yet been lifted!

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight, we’re happy tonight
Walking in a winter wonderland

We sang that song in grade-school, and one of the other kids pointed out that I had a word wrong.
I was singing ” later on we’ll perspire as we dream by the fire”

We’ve had a light dusting in SW Topeka this morning. The green grass looks like it has sugar frosting on it!
