The Pattern Continues To Do Everything To Miss KC

Good morning bloggers,

This is a later blog post as many of you likely realize I am a bit overwhelmed, and overjoyed, at the response to my personal statement on Facebook.  I came out of the closet, per say, but I have been out anyway, just not publicly. Go and read the entry on Facebook for more, and you can leave a comment there, or in the Weather2020 blog if you would like. Why is it important to come out? For me, it is to allow me to no longer “hide” on the air, and to be able to help be a role model and lead in this area where it is still a difficult journey for so many finding out about themselves, and for the parents dealing with learning and how to cope with this “stigma” that society still has.  Anyway, onto the weather.

The weather pattern is just “ridiculous” when it comes to having any excitement near Kansas City. As we have been showing, KC is not alone as there are other places around the nation also experiencing rather boring weather results. Just look at this forecast from the latest GFS model:

1

This is the forecast for Saturday night as we move into Christmas Eve. An upper high is forecast to be closing over northwest Canada and northern Alaska. That deep trough is forming over Hudson Bay. And, yes, another ridge on the west coast.  There will be a breakthrough storm, however, and it is right on schedule according to the LRC, This breakthrough storm will have to be watched for New Year’s week.  If it does EXACTLY what happened in the last cycle, then there will be a storm moving out into the plains, but warmer air would be drawn into KC. But, if there is just one colder twist to the pattern, then next week could finally break the ice.  But, we all know what is more likely!

Have a great day!

Gary

Real thin line of snow headed my direction. Lookin like 1 to 3 in which is what we continue to get. A far cry from the 8 to 12 the models had been showing. Wait and see what the rap and nam show shortly. Hoping u guys in kc can see some flakes sun/mon. Have a great day!

I still think we are going to have a white Christmas. The EURO has slowly gotten more bullish and the 6z GFS trended that way but with lesser amount.

So if the GFS can keep this solution, and give the US-36 corridor 12”+ of snow, that’d be great haha. Also can we stop saying Gary made a decision to be Gay. That’s not how it works. You don’t just wake up and make that choice, there has to be an attraction…the same attraction Hetero men feel for women they find attractive. The mindset that it’s a choice has absolutely no logic. The only choice Gary made was asking Andy to marry him, which is no different than a man asking his girlfriend to marry him. Someone picking up that… Read more »

Good post Alex, just let people live their lives and be happy. As long as it’s not harming others there should be no problem just being the best person you can be.

It is a well known fact that genetic disorders exist, and some of them include individuals born with male and female characteristics. In the case of a transgender individual, this includes the brain. The only known cure for that situation is to allow them to transition into a different gender.

Hermaphrodites are real things in nature, containing organs of both sexes. Why is it so hard to believe that gender can be confusing sometimes when, in nature, we know that the actual sexual organs can be confused sometimes?

BSMike, while I understand your point of view here, there really isn’t a comparison. I don’t have much of an understanding for people who are transgender, but if it makes them happy, then that’s what matters. What I do know is People are attracted who they are attracted to, and you can’t help that, it’s just nature. If that attraction happens to be of the same sex, then it is what it is. I had a friend was living in depression for years and attempted suicide twice because he was in the closet and was suppressing who he was for… Read more »

To Gary I say congratulations. What you did requires real courage.

First of all congats Gary and Andy for the coming out, I remember watching you as a kid on fox4, and I still have a kshb pencil from the bloggers meeting years ago :), Sadly stigmas take a long time to fade, but over time things will keep getting better IMO. As for the weather, well low clouds moved in, and it is still dry. I am still somewhat not overly worried about this winter, 1. having this long streak of almost no precip since late Oct. likely means that it is due to break before spring( a bit anyway)… Read more »

Congrats for coming out???? Man this is a sick world. I fully believe we are all sinners, and we should be careful to judge others for their sins unless we want to be judged for ours. To congratulate or condone such behaviors is just wrong. We shouldn’t congratulate such actions any more than we should congratulate a thief, adulterer, murderer, idolaters, or any of the abundant sins. I am a sinner myself as we all are. I care enough, and I’d like to help you see the error of your ways Brian. And hopefully you’ll make the necessary changes. First of all Brian, gods do not exist. It really doesn’t take a lot of empirical reasoning to understand this. Although, as you know, you are free to believe in whatever fair tale tickles your fancy. The problem is when people like you shove the rules of their particular brand of fairy tale onto others. It’s hurting people by making it seem like it’s right, not helping.

Nice grade school comeback heatmiser. A lot of people that are gay turned that way due to things that went through. Truth is we are all born flawed. Even if someone is born with a predisposition to be gay it does not make it right. Under your logic someone that was born with a predisposition to be a molestor or a murderer should be able to do what they want because they were born that way. There are different factors such as genetics and environment that play a role in making us more likely to do certain sins. It is… Read more »

So as of the latest run of all the models and adjusting ratios slightly this is approximately what the models are showing for early Christmas eve:
GFS: not a flake
EURO- Dusting-2″
NAM- Dusting-1″
Canadian-Dusting-1.5″
It should be interesting to see what happens. I tend to favor the NAM solution because it has seemed to be the most accurate thus far this fall/winter.

Thankfully I don’t believe in god. We come from the ground and we go back into it when we die. I feel like if people were more acceptance of death, that they wouldn’t hold onto religion and other scapegoats for their actions. Besides, if I really wanted to open up the can of worms, I could ask about the pedophillia in the churches and how Christians don’t do anything about it but throw money at the problem and act as if it will eventually fix itself. But again, that’s for another discussion. Only a few more days till Christmas which… Read more »

Stephen Hawking is an idiot. He argues that the creation of the universe is possible because of the existing laws of physics, for example the law of gravity. The obvious question is how do these “laws” exist in the first place. Anything that includes strict laws or principles implies intelligent design. He also argues because of this the universe can be created from nothing. Impossible. Nothing is literally nothing. Something has to bring something into existence. A person cannot create themselves because to do so would mean they already existed. Same for the universe.

And your argument is that a god being can snap it’s fingers to create the universe makes sense? Just because you can’t wrap your head around what created the universe as we know it doesn’t mean it was as easy as a god dreaming it all up, snapping his fingers, and making it so. I’m not saying you aren’t smart enough to grasp this, but I’m saying we as humans have limits to our intelligence and maybe we aren’t smart enough to really comprehend what at work. We were designed to live, reproduce, and die. There are certain secrets to… Read more »

Gary, I can’t imagine the anxiety that you’ve had to deal with “staying in the closet’. Good for you for finally being able to overcome that anxiety/fear and to be able to live your life, and the life that you live with your partner in peace. That looks a lot more like the kind of systems that we have had so far this year. Not very heavy and moving in from the NW. Perhaps it will be cold enough to bring those ratios up to 20:1 or higher and we can see some pretty fluffy snow Christmas morning.
